This morning, I got my latest set of photographs back from the online printing service which I use. The pictures were perfect – colors just as I had seen them on my monitor and beatiful detail in the shadows without the highlights being blown out.
Of course, this hasn’t just happened by accident. As they used to say to me at school – “Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance”. Or in this case “The Spyder 3 Pro Prevents Poor Performance”. Yes, I used my trusty monitor calibrator to ensure that my photos were tweaked perfectly. I was sure in the knowledge that what I saw on my screen was just what I would get through the post.
As a professional, it’s not just about the satisfaction of a good set of photographs to me. These photos are for the client and if they weren’t right, I would not get paid. So getting things right first time is money in my pocket.

But I’m not sure I really want to know! I’m weird like that — I don’t like to know how magic tricks are done, either. Still, I love to watch experts at their crafts, whether they are electricians wiring a house or glass blowers forming lovely figurines. I don’t need to know how they do it (though I am sometimes curious); I just want to see it while it is happening. So, maybe one day I’ll come across a shop that does canvas printing and wander in. Do you think they would let me watch? I imagine that whatever they do is done in the back of the shop, out of view. Perhaps it would be enough to catch a glimpse of the machine and hear it in process. I can fill in the rest with my imagination, and just enjoy the finished product. That way I can capture the mystery of the process, yet still feel a part of it.

When I started acting I was pretty desperate for almost any job. I would stand around and be an extra for a scene and they might pay me a hundred dollars for the entire day. Its a nice amount of money for just standing there but its not like you get those jobs every single day. I had to make that money last for a while and that’s hard to do. When I started doing voice overs for commercials and cartoons was when I finally made enough money to pay my rent. One thing that’s really nice about that kind of work is you’re inside in an air conditioned building while you’re reading your lines. It really beats standing outside all day waiting for the director to be ready to film. I’ll never forget those first jobs I landed when I moved out here because they really helped me feel like I was going to make it.

The way these beautiful flowers were captured was absolutely great. Their are many parallel similarities between investing your money in the Stock market, or investing in Inuit art.

Looking for a small The Way of Kings review? Then here’s my take on the book. Read it! I’m usually pretty picky when it comes to fantasy books. I’ve seen a lot of so called ‘great’ fantasy books come and go, but very few of them really impressed me. This book is different. It’s got the makings of a great epic. Brandon Sanderson has really made a name for himself in the fantasy world by finishing off Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series. He’s done a fabulous job completing the series so far. I guess all that time writing someone else’s property convinced him to do a better job himself with his own fantasy series. The Way of Kings is book 1 of the Stormlight Archive, a series intended to be 10 books long. That’s a pretty epic series, on par with the Wheel of Time for sure. I’ve read the book and I quite like it, so it has my recommendations.

The 2 humbucker and 1 single coil setup pickups are medium to higher output, which makes them capable of hitting the higher distortion levels but can selected in such a way as to lower the output for warmer and less heavy music.
I’ve long been a fan of the S series guitars and the Ibanez S470 in particular and I always have it along on my gigs. Should it be damaged or lost I would be devastated as they are no longer making them but there are still some available on the second hand market.
